Illustrative shade guide, mirror, and smile sketch

A calm framework for talking about color, shape, context, and preference without promising a result.

Natural context matters

Teeth are viewed together, in changing light, and as part of a face and smile. A single shade tab or isolated photo cannot capture every context that may matter.

“White” is not one target

Brightness, translucency, surface texture, contrast, neighboring teeth, and personal preference can influence how a color is perceived. Ask how the proposed choice is evaluated in different light and beside nearby teeth.

Shape is more than width and length

Edges, contours, symmetry, transitions, and the relationship between teeth can influence the overall impression. More uniform is not automatically more natural or more appropriate.

Preview and communication

Ask what visual aids, mock-ups, photographs, or provisional steps may be used to communicate. Understand what each aid can and cannot predict.

Keep expectations discussable

Use descriptive words, examples of preferences, and questions. Avoid turning an inspirational image into a guaranteed specification; anatomy and clinical limits remain individual.

Use this guide to prepare questions, then discuss your own health and options with a qualified dental professional.

Keep the information in context

This guide is general information, not diagnosis or personalized dental advice. A qualified dental professional can discuss your health, goals, and the options that may or may not be appropriate for you.
